Happy Burns Day!
In honor of the birthday of the Bard of Ayershire, Scotland’s favorite son, Robert Burns, I though I would post a photo of Ayershire’s next most important product, my great-great-grandmother, Jessie McKellan. Jessie was born in Kilmarnock in 1855, just a stone’s throw from Burns’ birthplace, about 70 years after Burns penned his most well-known (to Americans) poem, Auld Lang Syne. I’m still trying to find more details about Jessie, but I do have more photos of her, which I will publish later (I didn’t have time to clean the scratches up in this one!). For now, this post launches a weekly post with a random photo from the archives.

Exciting and interesting. Will be looking forward with anticipation to weekly updates! Love what you’re doing!
Thanks, Dad! I’ll be writing a week’s worth of posts tomorrow…stay tuned…
Wow! This is an amazing blog! You are talented!!! I love this photo of Jessie….I am so honored to be a small part of your genealogy world! What a legacy you are creating for the future generations of your family!
Thanks, Diana! This is fun, but it certainly expands to fill all of my free time. I have to figure out how to make writing routine, so there’s still time left to do actual research!
